The Botanical Garden of Gin with Mark Stoddard
This class will cover a brief history of gin as told by Hendrick’s Gin brand ambassador Mark Stoddard. A little background on Mark:
A Boston native, Mark thrust himself across the country where he found comfort behind the bar slinging gin in the Centennial State. He shook, strained and stirred his way through college while studying International Affairs at the University of Colorado. It was there that Mark fell in love with the colonial and imperial histories of spirituous beverages and mankind’s tumultuous relationship with alcoholic tipples.
In 2008, he opened the Bitter Bar, a world-class cocktail destination nestled at the foot of the Rocky Mountains in Boulder, Colorado. As a world champion mixologist, attentive student of cocktail history and lover of all that is out of the ordinary, it was only fitting that Mark joined Hendrick’s Gin in early 2012.
Sir Stoddard holds a Guinness Book World Record and has won numerous cocktail competitions at the local, national, and international levels, recently taking 1st place at the coveted 42 Below Cocktail World Cup in New Zealand in 2010, emerging victorious among over 3,000 expert mixologists from around the globe. His accolades have been featured in media outlets such as the New York Times, Washington Post, Denver Post, Imbibe Magazine, Saveur Magazine, Class Magazine, and Bon Appétit (to name a few). Now a San Franciscan, Mark will traverse the vast Western United States, spreading the delightfully peculiar gospel of Hendrick’s Gin.
